Hello, and how are you, truly? My name is Elise, and I am here to offer a listening ear.

Reaching out for help can be anxiety-provoking and trigger feelings of self-doubt. I am no stranger to that, in my own journey of getting help when problems kept resurfacing and I could ignore them no longer. Through therapy and my study into counselling, I began to piece together the jigsaw puzzle, which began a process of self-understanding about the environment which had shaped my struggles and responses. For example, how my childhood trauma was limiting the way I lived my life, and what I needed, to overcome unhealthy patterns from the past. I am still far from perfect, and I am learning that I am exactly where I need to be, right now, right here.

Now, as a counsellor in training, I hope to offer a compassionate and non-judgmental space, for you to share whatever is on your mind. My goal is to support you through listening to your situation and struggles, that you feel heard and understood.

Carl Rogers once said, “the curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change”. In my own experience, this self-acceptance only became possible in the company of like-minded souls who had gone down a similar path. As I have received, I now seek to give. I hope you will allow me to be a part of your journey.
