Still learning about myself | On this journey with you

About this session :)

Hello! I’m Jasmine, and I’m glad you’re here 🙂 How have you been feeling in recent days? I’d like to share with you something I wish someone had told me when I was younger: Honour your feelings. Whatever you’re feeling right now, they’re valid. They’re real, simply because you’re experiencing it. There is no need for any other justification. When I struggled with body image issues, grief and loss, being a “highly sensitive person” (google this - I didn’t know this was a legit thing till last year!), and paranoia about health issues, this voice always took over: “Jasmine, you shouldn’t feel this way. You should just be grateful for your overall circumstances. There are people out there experiencing much worse than you.” This was why I shoved everything under the carpet. The ‘gunk’ just built up over time and at some point became too overwhelming. Something felt really ‘off’ about my life. I didn’t even know what it was, but I knew I had to do something about it. That ‘something’ for me was therapy, self-help books, yoga, and meditation. One of my first and most important realisations was this: “Nobody has the authority to compare pain and struggles. If you feel it, you feel it. Period.” It was liberating - I felt like I finally had the licence to feel, express, and work towards healing. You do too. Hold on to your feelings. Acknowledge them - you’re fully entitled to them. There’s someone out there who wants to listen, and is willing to be in this space with you. They may not be able to solve all your problems, but they can walk by your side through your difficult times. I hope I can be that person for you; if there’s a chance you feel we might connect, let’s have a chat! If you’re feeling slightly apprehensive, I share a little more about myself and my thoughts on Instagram @inthisxspace - perhaps you could check it out and see how you feel. I don’t have all the answers, even for myself - I’m still working through my fears and insecurities. But I know this for sure: If you’re ready to share, I’m ready to listen, and we can figure it out together :) I’ll take this journey with you at your own pace and comfort level. Our space together will always be a judgement free zone. See you soon! The more serious stuff if: I taught English and Math at a mainstream Secondary school for a few years, and I’m currently working on policies and curriculum related to Special Educational Needs, an area that is very close to my heart.
