Special Subsidy Fund :)

Hi all,
Hernping here. I'm the founder of iash.sg and we started this special subsidy fund in May 2023 to help support youths in special circumstances. Especially ones who need professional therapy, but don't have the means to afford it.

These subsidies go beyond our already subsidised rates and we use funds that are lovingly crowdsourced by you to help pay for these youth's healing journeys with our Resident Counsellors.
​
We've unfortunately had to close this initiative as of April 2024 due to insufficient funds coming in and had a deficit of some $800 dollars. But no worries, I've donated my own money to close up this gap and hereby close off this initiative too.
​
And don't lose hope! We are still going to try other methods to build this initiative in a more sustainable way - such as through our events and merchandise - stay tuned to fine out more okay?
​
For the moment, I'll leave a history of those who have kindly donated to this cause as well as some of the profiles of beneficiaries who you've empowered through your kindness.

Hernping

Youth 1
Currently 18 years old and comes from an emotional and physically abusive home. Parents don't support and are unaware of her help-seeking efforts, so this youth has been saving up her allowance to pay for Therapy.
​
Youth experiences depression, anxiety, ADHD and is on the spectrum, and deals with chronic physical illness too. Currently seeing a Resident Counsellor with this special subsidy :)

Youth 3
Youth is a victim of sexual assault during secondary school and has suffered significant trauma from the incidents (multiple).
​
Youth currently experiences flashbacks, panic attacks and has been a long-time sufferer from Depression. Has high tendency to self-harm and multiple suicide attempts. We gave her a special subsidy that would enable her to go for weekly therapy.
Youth 5
Youth was sexually assaulted by family since an early age. Was dismissed by parents about these incidents. Started self-harming in primary school.

Youth faced more sexual assault as well as parental trauma in secondary school. Tried to attempt suicide multiple times and actively engages in self-harm.
​
We reached this youth through our discord server and offered her free therapy - through which she attends every fortnight now.
Youth 2
Youth is a long time sufferer of depression and anxiety. This stems from a lot of trauma due to parents, who are not open and willing to let the youth seek help.
Youth currently studies and works two jobs to be able to pay for therapy. We subsidised their counselling so she would have less financial burden on themselves.

Youth 4
Youth has been diagnosed with depression and eating disorders since the age of 15. Youth struggles with home environment as well as having family members with special needs.
​
Youth is currently working four jobs while attending university, while dealing with suicidal thoughts and ideation.
​
We subsidised her therapy so she can receive weekly help.
SSF Guidelines
This special subsidy is offered to youths who meet the following critieria:

Are under 25 years of age
-
Have tried FREE types of counselling or therapy and don't find it suitable.

Cannot afford to pay for private therapy
-
Are not supported by their parents for therapy
-
Are referred to us by organisations
Funds are used to further subsidise (beyond already available susbidies) up to $50 for each session for this youth :)
