Hi, I'm Jaclyn.

Hello! I’m Jaclyn, a Counsellor in Training at IASH.SG.

I am here to provide a safe space and support you on your mental health journey. As humans, it is natural to have feelings, no matter how big or small. It is not strange to doubt and question things from time to time. You don’t have to be in a crisis to come for counselling.
Why Speak to Me?
As sometime who did not quite fit into the standard education system, I would have very much appreciated having someone or somewhere I could have turned to for mental health support. I grew up in a highly stressful and tense environment that caused much anxiety and spent a lot of my life thinking that I was not good enough. If you feel lost in life or that you don’t really belong anywhere, you are not alone. If you are someone who has had to mature quickly and take on various responsibilities, yet feel like you are never doing enough, I am here to provide a non-judgmental listening ear for you. In our society, a lot of us struggle silently and tend to compare ourselves to people who seem to have it all together. Having talked to so many people, I have learned that everyone has their own issues to deal with, and no one is less important than the other.
My Approach
I use a mainly Person-Centered approach, based on empathy and open-
mindedness to understand where my clients are coming from. I do not believe
that there is a one-fits-all approach for counselling, and work together with my clients to find the methods that will best help them. Examples of integrative modalities I use include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Choice Theory Reality Therapy (CTRT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Narrative Therapy. I believe that we all have the inner resources and strength to survive and thrive, but not everyone knows how to find and utilize them. As I understand that not everyone is comfortable with just sitting and talking, I can also integrate Expressive Arts interventions into therapy sessions.
