Hi, I'm Jovan.

Hello, I’m Jovan — a Counsellor-in-Training at IASH.SG.

I come into the counselling room as a fellow human being first — thoughtful, imperfect and very much a work in progress. My journey into counselling was shaped not only by academic training, but by lived experiences of burnout, grief and loss, perfectionism and periods of deep questioning about meaning and identity. These seasons challenged me, humbled me, and slowly taught me that healing is rarely about “fixing” ourselves, but about being met with compassion, honesty and courage.

I believe that our wounds, when gently tended to, can become places of understanding rather than shame. Inspired by the Japanese philosophies of kintsugi and wabi-sabi, I see brokenness not as something to hide, but as part of what makes us human — and capable of deep connection. This perspective shapes how I sit with clients: not above, not ahead, but alongside, willing to walk with you through uncertainty, pain and growth.
My Approach
My work is grounded in Person-Centred Therapy, with an integrative use of approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) when appropriate.
At the heart of my approach is a belief that people already carry within them the capacity for insight, choice and change — sometimes they simply need a safe space for that to emerge.
In our sessions, I aim to offer:
-
A safe, non-judgmental space where you are seen, heard, and accepted as you are
-
A calm and steady presence where your stories can be gently held
-
A collaborative relationship, where you remain in the driver’s seat
-
Respect for your pace, while also offering gentle accountability towards the growth and healing you desire for yourself

I often think of counselling as both a workshop and a playground — a place where we can carefully examine what no longer serves you, experiment with new perspectives, and realign with what matters most.
My Experience
I have experience supporting individuals who are navigating:
* Anxiety and Depression
* Grief and Loss
* Stress, burnout, and workplace challenges
* Life transitions and identity exploration
* Relationship and interpersonal difficulties
* Emotional regulation and self-esteem concerns
* Perfectionism and self-criticism
* Personal growth and meaning-making
* LGBTQIA+ related concerns
You do not need to have the “right words” or a clear goal to begin. Sometimes, counselling starts simply with a willingness to show up — just as you are :)
