Hi, I'm Derrick.

Hi, I’m Derrick.
Hello, I’m Derrick, a counsellor, educator and coaching psychology practitioner based in Singapore. Life does not always unfold as we expect. At times, you may feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in a relationship, uncertain about your direction, or simply feel that something is not quite right.
I offer a safe and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life. I believe counselling is a collaborative process. Rather than telling you what to do, I work with you to better understand yourself, recognise your strengths, explore new perspectives and find a way forward that is meaningful to you.
My promises
-
Respect and acceptance – I will meet you where you are, without judgement, and respect your experiences, values and choices.
-
Collaboration – We will work together at a pace that is comfortable for you. You remain the person who knows your life best.
-
Growth – I hope to help you not only cope with difficulties, but also understand yourself better, discover new possibilities and flourish in your life.
Who I work with
I work with individuals and couples from different backgrounds and stages of life. I also have experience working with families and groups. Having experienced the loss of family members myself, grief and loss are especially meaningful areas of work for me. I understand that grief can affect each person differently, and I respect that everyone has their own way and pace of grieving.

My approach
I use an integrative, person-centred and strengths-based approach. My professional training includes Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, EMDR and Coaching Psychology. I draw from these approaches according to the needs of each person rather than using one method for everyone.
A little more about me
Before entering counselling and education, I worked in telecommunications, technology, healthcare, project management and the Singapore Police Force. These different experiences have allowed me to meet people from many walks of life and have shaped how I understand the pressures, responsibilities and changes that people experience.
Today, one of the things I enjoy most about counselling and coaching is seeing clients understand themselves better, move beyond simply coping and begin to flourish in their own lives.
