Hi, I'm Jasmine

Hello! I'm Jasmine, a Counsellor in Training at IASH.SG.

When I was 18, I was extremely stressed and anxious during my A-Level exams. For the first time in my life, I blanked out during one of my exams. I was so overwhelmed to the point that I raised my hand to tell the teacher that I don’t think I could continue the exam, and I left the exam hall.

Later that evening, I remember sitting in my living room and thinking to myself, “omg I’m only 18 years old and I already feel so overwhelmed by life. I can’t even do my exams properly like everyone else… how on earth am I going to get through the rest
of my life???”. I saw no light at the end of the tunnel.

As life would have it, I would later face many other challenges such as a work
burnout, anxiety, and family relational issues.

What eventually made a difference for me was not a single breakthrough moment, but having a loving group of friends and mentors who held space for me, spoke life back into me, and helped me rediscover a sense of strength I didn’t know I still had.

I decided to pursue counselling because I believe that restoration and healing are always possible. As a counsellor-in-training, I will offer you a space that feels intentional, safe, and real. I will walk alongside you, helping you make sense of your thoughts and emotions, and gently drawing out the wisdom that already exists within you.

My Approach

My approach is grounded in a simple belief: You always have a choice.

As a counsellor, I won’t push you to go where you’re not ready to go. It’s important to me that you feel a sense of agency in the process. I will respect both your space, and your pace.

I am guided by the Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) approach, which means I focus on creating a safe and supportive environment where you feel heard, understood, and accepted as you are. From there, I gently support you in building awareness, because I believe that awareness is often the first step towards change. I also draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to help you notice patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and explore how these might be shaping your
experiences.

I hope to bring a balance of empathy and lightness, where you feel safe to be your full self, including the parts of you that may feel unseen or unheard.

At the heart of it, I believe that we all have the capacity to write new stories for
ourselves, and it would be my privilege to support you as you begin to explore what that could look like.
