A space where you don't have to explain yourself
Counselling where your identity is respected, never questioned — somewhere you can simply be yourself and talk about whatever you're carrying.
At IASH, we offer affirming, non-judgemental support for LGBTQ+ people in Singapore.
(In person at our Bishan centre, or online)
Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community can come with experiences that not everyone around you understands. Maybe you've had to think carefully about who you tell and who you don't. Maybe you've felt misunderstood by family, uncomfortable in certain spaces, or tired of having to explain yourself. Or maybe none of that feels particularly relevant right now.
You might be looking for support with anxiety, stress, relationships, family issues, grief, or something else entirely. Whatever brings you here, it can help to know that you won't have to spend your time explaining or defending who you are.
Whether you're out, questioning, private, or still figuring things out, counselling can be a space where you can talk about what's going on in your life and be met with understanding and respect.
Experiences that may feel familiar
Everyone's experience is different. If being LGBTQ+ is part of what's bringing you here, you might recognise some of the following:
-
The everyday weight of anxiety, low mood, stress, or burnout
-
Identity, coming out, or navigating it at your own pace
-
Family expectations, acceptance, or strained relationships
-
Belonging — feeling unseen, isolated, or "too much" or "not enough"
-
Relationships, dating, and intimacy
-
Carrying guilt, shame, or self-doubt shaped by difficult experiences about who you are
You don't need a particular reason, or the "right" words. Whatever you're carrying is enough to start.
