Hi, I'm Mia.
Nice to meet you! I am a budding counsellor, born and bred in Singapore where I proudly call Home.
Quoting from Carl Rogers, “When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations, deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another.”
Inspired by that quote, I hope to extend the listening presence and support to someone who needs it and support them in passing through those difficult moments.
I am committed to helping people build a sense of emotional security and provide support to them in the difficult moments of their lives. Apart from counselling, I also like to give back to society through volunteering work.

Why speak to me?
I know how difficult some days can be, and sometimes it feels like you are all alone. I had many of such days by myself and the last thing I would like to hear is advice such as "Stay positive!", "There are worse things in life.", "Count your blessings.", although they are well-intentioned.
I know that we don't always need advice or instructions in challenging times. All we need is some support, someone who truly listens and knows how this feels like at this moment.
I would like to extend an olive branch to you when you need one. There will be no judgment, but a presence to let you feel I am here with you.
I've helped people:
Learn to acknowledge and accept the pain they had experienced in their past and heal from them.
Learn to respond in a healthy manner instead of reacting to uncomfortable emotions such as anxiety and negative thoughts.
Practice mindfulness in their daily lives and emotional self-regulation.
Discover and live a values-guided meaningful life for themselves.
