Hi, I'm Wen Bin

Hello! I'm Wen Bin, a Counsellor in Training at IASH.SG.
Finding someone to talk to about your deepest struggles is really hard. There's a lot of pressure in finding the right counsellor — someone you can trust, and who actually gets it. As someone who entered the mental health space as a client, I know what it's like to carry shame, lose confidence in yourself, and feel like there's no way forward. When I entered counselling, I was at rock bottom — experiencing depression, and going through a period where I genuinely didn't see a way out. With the help of counselling, I slowly rebuilt myself from there.
That experience is a big part of why I do this work, and why I believe people are more capable than they give themselves credit for — including you.
A bit about me
I'm currently completing my Master of Counselling through Flinders University (ECTA), seeing clients at IASH as part of my training. Outside of counselling, I enjoy the gym, running, and hiking mountains overseas.
I believe physical health and mental health are deeply connected — and that getting outdoors and disconnecting from the noise is one of the most grounding things a person can do. I also read widely on philosophy and existential ideas, which informs a lot of how I think about people and life.
My Approach
My work is grounded in empathy, without judgement, and staying genuine. I draw on CBT to help untangle thought patterns that are keeping you stuck, and values-based work from ACT to help you figure out what actually matters to you and take real steps toward it. I let you set the pace. We don't go anywhere you're not ready to go. But I'm also not here to just nod along — when something's worth naming, I'll name it. I believe that's where the real work happens.
